Container Number Lookup
At the International Institute of Modified Containers (IIMC), transparency is one of our core values. Our Container Number Lookup tool linked with the Modified Container Register provides full visibility into both the ownership and status of modified containers, allowing the public and industry users to verify the owner associated with the assigned Owner Number.
This ensures complete transparency across the containerized transportation network, promoting trust and accountability within the industry.

Frequently Asked Questions
Whether you’re looking to understand container statuses, compliance requirements, or how to access detailed modification data, you’ll find helpful insights below.
Can't find the container in the database?
If the container you’re searching for does not appear in the database, this indicates that it is not compliant with the Modified Container Code (MCC) and has not been registered in the Modified Container Registry. Only containers that meet MCC standards are listed in the registry for verification and compliance.
What does the Container Statuses mean?
- The container’s status is: PES Expiry, is in full compliance until the date listed. This serves as a reminder that action is required for ongoing maintaince to be in compliance.
- The container’s status is: PES Expired, Draft, or Pending, which means it requires additional action before it can be fully operational or compliant.
- The container’s status is: Decommissioned, Superseded, Rejected, Failed, or Retracted, indicating that it is no longer in service or has failed to meet compliance standards.
How can I look up the container's MCC Certificate of Conformity (CoC)?
Approved and recognized Logistics Chain operators, Terminals, and other relevant stakeholders can request a Modified Container Register account under the Logistics role. This account provides access to detailed information on container modifications, including the container’s MCC Certificate of Conformity (CoC), ensuring that all modifications meet the required standards.
How can I register a modified container in the ModConReg database?
To register a modified container, the container must first undergo assessment by an authorized Assessor, and the Workshop performing the modification must be registered on the Modified Container Register. Once the container is inspected and documented, the details of the container’s modifications are submitted to the Modified Container Register by the Assessor, where it will be assigned a Certificate of Conformity (CoC). Only certified assessors can submit registration data to ModConReg following the approval flow. For more details on the process, refer to the ModConReg – Example & Workflow for Modifying a Container video, which illustrates the full approval process.
